THE GREATEST KEY TO EVERY SUCCESS!

ATTITUDES OF THANKFULNESS

As a human being, Christians or Muslims,we work together as individuals, group or collective groups with the right attitudes in all our endeavours in life.Wrong attitudes accounts negatively. All the talent in the world cannot make up for right attitudes. With the right attitudes, our efforts in service to the Lord are enhanced and live up to their full potential

In what areas should we be concerned about our attitudes?

1. Our attitude toward God

2. Our attitude toward ourselves as individuals

3. Our attitude toward our community

4. Our attitude toward the work we do together as individuals, group or collective groups.

At least in these four areas, we must be sure to maintain the proper attitudes of thankfulness

WHAT THEN ARE THE PROPER ATTITUDES OF THANKFULNESS?

I. ATTITUDES OF THANKFULNESS TOWARD GOD

A. LOVE

We must have the right kind of love toward God.

Jesus defined that kind of love in Matthew 22:37

The question is do we love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind?

B. FAITH AND TRUST

Faith is a strong conviction and trust in things one does not see – Hebrew 11:1

Without faith, it is impossible to please God – Hebrew 11:6

Do we have the kind of faith which pleases God?  If not, - Romans 10:17

C. THANKFULNESS

Every Christian should have "the attitude of gratitude" – Colossians 3:17; Ephesians 5:20

God's righteous indignation is toward those who have become unthankful – Romans 1:18-21

An attitude of thankfulness for the blessings we have will help remove the bitterness that often destroys our relationship.

If our relationship with God is right, it increases the likelihood that our relationship with others will be smooth as well – Proverbs 16:7

II. WHAT ALSO HELPS ARE THE PROPER ATTITUDES TOWARD OUR SELVES

A. HUMILITY

A humble estimation of one's self is very important – Romans 12:3,16

Humility includes a willingness to serve, even to do "menial “tasks – John 13:6-7

"Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things and I'll show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things."(Lawrence D. Bell) – Matthew 25:21

Are we humble enough to serve one another?

B. TEACHABILITY

To be teachable is to be wise – Proverbs 15:31-32

Teachability includes:

An eagerness to learn and grow

The ability to learn from correction, to profit from advice and criticism

The old as well as the young need a teachable attitude: Elton True blood said that “Education is too good to limit to the young."

How teachable are we, when it comes to opportunities of leading a group?

C. HONESTY TOWARD OUR MISTAKES

This includes a willingness to admit our mistakes – James 5:16. And a willingness to correct them.

Everyone makes a mistakes; an organization that functions well and grows is one filled with people who learn from their mistakes!

The attitudes of humility, teachability, and honesty will certainly prepare us to be useful to the Lord and our community. They will also have a bearing on our relationship with one anothers in Okpo Development Committee.  Let's now focus our attention on.

III. ATTITUDES TOWARD OUR BRETHREN

A. LOVE

Jesus taught us the necessity of loving our brethren – John 13:34-35

We have been born again that we might love one another fervently – 1 Peter 1:22-23

If we truly love one another, how can we not work together?

B. APPRECIATION FOR OTHERS AND THEIR WORK.

We need to appreciate what others are doing - e.g., - 1 Corinthians 1:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

True appreciation for others will eliminate destructive criticism, gossip, divisiveness

Expressing appreciation is like grease on the gears of a machine...it makes others do their work much better!

C. SUBMISSIVENESS.

We are to submit to one another – Ephesians 5:21

And we are to submit to those in positions of leadership –Hebrew 13:17

Too many chiefs, not enough Indians...that is a common problem in many organizations!

D. PEACEABLENESS

Peace among brethren is something that we should purse – Romans 14:19

It is part of walking worthy of our calling – Ephesians 4:1-3

The true children of God are those who are peacemakers, and sow their deeds of righteousness in the atmosphere of peace – Matthew 5:9; James 3:17-18

E. HOSPITALITY

Christians are to be hospitable – Romans 12:13

This includes both hospitality to strangers and to brethren – Hebrew 13:2; 1 Peter 4:9

A factor in the rapid spread of the church in the first century was the hospitality extended by the Christians – 3 John 5-8

F. WARMTH, FRIENDLINESS, OPENNESS

We see this expressed by those in the church at Jerusalem – Acts 2:44-47

It continued with the saints in Antioch – Acts 11:27-30

G. GENTLENESS, MEEKNESS

Especially necessary in dealing with those in doubt of achieving the development agenda and also in dealing with those who oppose the urgency needed to accomplish such a goal. – 2 Timothy 2:24-26

H. FORGIVENESS, FORBEARANCE, PATIENCE, LONGSUFFERING

All of these attitudes overlap, and are very important – Ephesians 4:2, 32

They help smooth out the bumps and obstacles that Satan will put in our way in his effort to destroy the planned development agenda.

IV. ATTITUDES TOWARD OUR WORK

 A. GRATITUDE FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF OUR WORK

Paul certainly possessed this attitude – 1 Timothy 1:12; 1 Corinthians 15:9-10

In other way, do we appreciate what an honor it is to offer service in our community?

 B. ENTHUSIASM, EAGERNESS

Remember, God loves a cheerful giver – 2 Corinthians 9:7. Nothing is so easy but that it becomes difficult if done with reluctance

Nothing is so hard that it cannot be made easier with enthusiasm

C. INDUSTRIOUSNESS, DILIGENCE, ENERGY...

Like those in Nehemiah's day, we need a "mind to work" – Nehemiah 4:6. If we are to serve men "heartily", how much more the Lord – Colossians 3:23

Some people are like blisters...they never show up until the work is almost done. The slothful person is just as harmful as the destructive person – Proverbs 18:9

D. INITIATIVE

Initiative has been defined as the willingness to do what is right without having to be prodded

We should not have to be reminded constantly of our responsibilities – 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:16. When you see something that needs to be done, don't criticize, energize! (i.e., do it yourself!)

E. POSITIVENESS

We are to do things without murmuring and grumbling – Philippians 2:14. The chronic complainer and the negative thinker are obstructions to the work of any community.

F. PERSISTENCE

We must have the attitude of Christ, not just to do, but to finish the work ... – John 4:34

We need "finishative" as well as "initiative" – Hebrew 6:12. Then we can say with Paul:  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7

CONCLUSION

Ideal attitudes of thankfulness make for ideal working conditions among the members of any community.

Improvement on attitude of thankfulness can be compared to the woodcutter sharpening his ax – Ecclesiastes 10:10. If we want the work of the community to go smooth, we must sharpen our attitudes!

Certainly the attitudes described in my writeup  will help the cause of Christ to be appreciated in any community and thus brings honor to His name.

They also will improve our relation with God, ourselves, our community and our work.

They will make us "useful to the Master, prepared for every good work" – 2 Timothy 2:21

Are we developing the right kind of attitudes of thankfulness that prepare us for the work of the Lord in our community?

May God see us through in Jesus name.

EVERY DAY PICTURES OF LIFE!

The Big And Small Pictures Of Life.

Every day in life, man is faced with myriads of problems to which one must make a decision to resolve the issues. For any decision taken today, two pictures are usually painted in front of the one taking the decision. The small picture showing the immediate result of the action taken and the big picture showing us the things that will likely spring up arising from this decision we are about to take. Because of the impatient nature in man and inherently so, man tends to see only the small picture and straight away, a decision is reached.

Eve saw the small picture. Gen 3:6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. The big picture that Eve did not see is their eviction from the garden and from the presence of God. She did not see her action laden with disobedience and the punishment thereof. Once anyone refuses to see the big picture, disaster awaits such a person.

Abraham did not see the big picture when his wife sold the idea of sleeping with her slave girl Haggai. To Abraham, it was a means to an end. If he was told that Boko Haram, ISIS and so many fundamental groups will spring up from the religion of the son that Haggai bore for him, I think he would have shown some restrain. The big picture must be sort for when entering into the decision room about matters of this life.

Esau saw a well prepared pottage and his self control mechanism got missing. Gen 25:32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? The birthright that he was going to sort after later in life was nothing to him in the face of great hunger. He wished he had looked at the big picture that he will serve his younger one; he would have spent another thirty minutes to cook food for himself.

David did not know that one lustful look at the wife of Uriah the Hittite will lead him to lost his throne and live in the wilderness. He saw the beauty of someone else’s wife and got himself entangled.  The simple picture he saw was that of just satisfying his urge and that was it. But chain reaction that erupted engulfed David to the point of writing Psm 51 in tears.

Judas and the team of Ananias and Saphira did not see death as the big picture when they acted the way they did.

In the light of the above, permit me to say, going forward, each one of us should stop and ask for the big picture in all major decision we ought to take in life.

It is the duty of the devil to make us only see the small and immediate picture. He hides the big picture from us. Our duty is to relax and think deep about the big picture. So many Christians have shipwrecked their faith because of failing to see the big picture.

Seeing the big picture will help us walk well as God’s children. Our big picture is spending eternity with him in heaven. Nothing should blur our vision. We must keep focus and not be distracted. Always desire to see the big picture. The power of your vision depends greatly of your inbuilt self control mechanism.

Travel More

Here’s What I Learned…

Hi, I’m Theresa.

This is me at almost 60 years old, sitting on The Cliffs of Moher in Ireland…

Sometimes I pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming, because it wasn’t long ago that I believed I’d work my miserable retail job until I died.

No savings. No plan for the future. No retirement to speak of. And ten years ago, a divorce left me with a hefty debt.

Travel just wasn’t in the cards (or so I thought)…

Instead, I was putting in 60- to 70-hour work weeks, trying to stay afloat. I’d drag myself out of bed before the sun was up… face traffic… and then spend 12 hours manning a cash register before crawling home, exhausted.

I was putting in 60- to 70-hour work weeks, trying to stay afloat. I’d drag myself out of bed before the sun was up… face traffic… and then spend 12 hours manning a cash register before crawling home, exhausted.

The harder I worked, the more I got promoted. Which was great, because it meant more money... but it also came with more hours and more mental and emotional strain managing employees.

And to top it all off, while I was realizing how much financial and emotional trouble I was in, my mom was also dying.

One night, when she was very ill, she called me to her bedside and told me her greatest regret in life was that she never got to see Paris—that she lived her life for everybody else and not herself.

That she always wanted to climb the Eiffel Tower but now here she is in bed without the health to do it and death staring her in the face.

Why hadn’t she ever gone?

I’d climb the Eiffel Tower… I’d sip a coffee on the Champs-Élysées… smell the roses in the Luxembourg Gardens… and take the Metro to the top of Montmartre.

In that moment, I made her a promise – half wanting her to feel better and half wanting a change in my life. Someday, I would go to Paris for her… I’d stop living my life as if I have no control over it, and I’d sit down and think about what I really want to do with my days.

I’d climb the Eiffel Tower… I’d sip a coffee on the Champs-Élysées… smell the roses in the Luxembourg Gardens… and take the metro to the top of Montmartre.

My mom is gone, but I kept my promise to her. And it changed my life.

Here’s how...

Step #1: Realizing that you’re in control whether you feel like it or not…

The day after I promised my mom I’d go to Paris, everything changed. I woke up bound and determined to get to Paris against all the odds and change my life into something more fun.

And here’s what you need to know about decisions like this – once you decide to do something -- I mean really decide – then you can do anything. It’s an incredibly powerful tool.

I just knew I was going to do it.

I’m sure that you can remember a time in your life when someone said you couldn’t do something but, come hell or high water, you made it happen?

Well, that’s what this particular day was like for me. It came with an immense feeling of power and confidence, even though I didn’t know how I was going to make it happen. I just knew I was going to do it.

Here’s what I wrote down on a slip of paper at the kitchen table:

  • WANTED: Freedom to make my own hours—go for walks during the day, meet with friends in the afternoon, stay up late without the threat of an alarm in the morning.
  • WANTED: “Life.” No more cash registers or desk jobs. I wanted something I felt proud to share with others. Preferably a job that includes laughter… lots and lots of laughter.
  • WANTED: A second income stream, so I’m not always so crunched for cash. I want “life,” but I also need to eat. So it can’t be something I do as a hobby. It needs to have an income attached.
  • WANTED: Real vacations where I pick where I want to go and I have enough money to enjoy the extras, the day trips, boat rides, cooking classes, and more…

Now look…

I found a community of people online living the EXACT life I wanted. They were my age, coming from all different backgrounds. Things started to look up.

At 59, I’m no spring chicken and I didn’t, at the time, have a lot of writing skills. That, on top of being broke. Desperate. Sad. So, when I say my options were slim, I really mean it.

But then, I found a community of people online living the EXACT life I wanted. They were my age, coming from all different backgrounds. Things started to look up.

Many of the people I saw on forums were like me, with no skills but a desire to change. So, I decided to go for it.

One group in particular, a group of travel writers at Great Escape Publishing, caught my eye because they were getting paid to write stories about travel and that’s exactly what I wanted to do – travel more.

It turns out there are places out there – magazines and online newsletters that pay people to travel and then write about it… as well has hotel and restaurant owners who are willing to give you free hotel stays and meals if you include them in your stories.

Could this be true? I needed to know more.

All-expenses-paid trips... spa treatments... fine dining meals on the house... zip line jungle tours, exclusive entry into museums and festivals... it all sounded great but what was the catch?

There is one, of course.

Here it is: You actually do have to write about the things you see and do. And that’s what I do, now. I’m a travel writer. Even though I have no writing background. What’s funny is that I’m actually working more now than I ever did in the past.

But my work is exactly what I want to wake up and do every day. It’s better than a vacation. I’m swimming in crystal clear blue water with starfish in Fiji and hiking cliffs with sheep in Ireland. And I’m getting paid for it.

Here, I am...

In Fiji …

Ireland…

Paris…

I get to do a lot of cool things like ghost tours, food tours, wine tastings, and hikes.

I'm invited to dine in the very best restaurants, with $750 bottles of champagne brought to my table. I've been to luxurious hotels, just steps from the beach, spent hours in saunas, steam baths and spas. I've snorkeled in the South Pacific, wandered through art galleries in Paris, drunk beer out of sports trophies with the winning team in Ireland. The experiences I've had are remarkable and honestly, I'd have never have expected this just a few years ago.

… And then I write about it for people who are looking for advice online or in magazines on where to go and what to do when they get there…

Here are a few of my recently published stories:

Best of all, I sometimes get to take friends!!

I took four girlfriends with me to Fiji. And another girlfriend with me to Ireland.

And it gives me an excuse to travel solo, too. I have questions to ask, people to interview, hotels to check out and chefs to meet.

I’m basically a food critic, wine tester, history buff, and explorer all in one.

You can do this, too. Anyone can. It works because there’s been a big change in the way travel is bought and sold online.

It used to be that hotels and restaurants had to advertise in big magazines or on TV to get business.

But with the internet, customers typically decide where to stay and eat from articles they read online.

Traditional TV ads cost as much as $300,000 to $500,000. And magazines like Travel + Leisure charge more than $70,000 for a 1-page ad.

But here, instead, is what the owner of a villa on the Sun Coast of Fiji got out of my stay when she invited me to vacation there on the house and write about it afterwards:

  • Eight travel articles in magazines where thousands of readers discovered how great her villa is for a vacation.
  • Plus, a feature story in the in-flight magazine of Fiji Airlines so anyone flying there sees the name of her villa, too.

That’s eight published story mentions and all it cost her was a few pennies to host me for a few days. Practically nothing!

But for you and me, this is a big deal. Not only did I get a free stay in Fiji… but I was paid for those articles on top of it all. And again remember, I got to bring four of my girlfriends!!

It’s a win/win times four.

And, believe it or not, it’s regular folks who make the best travel writers… because it’s not just about the cost of advertising.

Today, we’re living in a time where people trust other customers MORE than we trust ads on TV and in magazines.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of blogs, publications, and websites out there—all in need of your reviews and experiences for their articles… for recommendations (good and bad) for their readers. And they’ll pay you for them.

I started out with no experience, but today I’ve had more than 450 articles published so far. With no fancy writing background and no journalism degree.

I started out with no experience, but today I’ve had more than 450 articles published so far. With no fancy writing background and no journalism degree.

What’s more, I’m typically wined, dined and pampered wherever I go because these places want me to have a top-notch experience to ensure I mention them favorably (though note: I’m ALWAYS honest in my articles and I try to discern the difference between the way I’m treated and the way other guests are treated so my stories are true accounts of what a typical traveler can expect.)

And it’s not just international establishments looking for you to come and write about them, either.

I started in my local neighborhood in New York. I barely had money for gas, much less a plane ticket to Paris, so international travel was out for me the first year.

Instead, I reviewed places nearby—local B&Bs, restaurants, an ice cream shop, and a ghost trail. And in doing so, I made a lot of new local friends, had some really fun experiences—one of my favorites being a complimentary stay worth $1,300 at a cute hotel in downtown Saratoga—really honed my skills as a writer, and established my credentials, too.

These are the simple local stories publishers want—short, practical, what-to-see-and-do bits of advice. And if I can write them, you can, too.

And truth be told, I love my local travel-writing opportunities—meeting people and uncovering new gems where I live. And I can’t be gone all the time, anyway. I want to be with friends and family here, too… not always on the road.

I know some travel writers making an extra $10,000 to $12,000 a year and taking AMAZING VACATIONS. I know others who do it full time for a whole lot more.

For me, while money is certainly important, the lifestyle is even better. I’m taking as many as 15 trips a year now, with no savings account or spending money required.

For me, while money is certainly important, the lifestyle is even better. I’m taking as many as 15 trips a year now, with no savings account or spending money required.

There’s also a community of us out here, too. One you can join if you try this on your own.

Mary, another travel writer I know, had a successful career in digital publishing and graphic arts and planned to use her nest egg to travel in retirement. But injury and illness took it all away.

Broke, bored, and single, she had the same life epiphany I did and wanted to see the world, while she was still young (65).

She estimates that in the last two years of being a travel writer, she’s racked up more than $30,000 in free travel and perks. And she’s had more than 120 stories published, more than 200 photos, three videos, and several maps—all that go toward her income from travel.

I met Kurt a couple years ago, too. As a former successful real estate investor, he started with no writing experience but now travels about 8 weeks per year and uses travel writing to still “live large” in his retirement, without any extra cost.

He basically just wants to stay in luxury properties, eat amazing meals and take expensive fishing trips without having to pay for it.

He still works hard, like me. But it’s a different kind of work than what we used to expect.

If you start locally, all you need is a computer and an internet connection. I stayed local for my first dozen stories and you should, too.

If you start locally, all you need is a computer and an internet connection.

The only investment I made when I got started was a travel writing guide I bought from Great Escape Publishing.

For me, this transformation took many turns. But the outcome is that I’m getting paid to see the world and I can do it with friends or solo. I no longer feel like I’m wasting my life. I feel alive and ready to conquer my days!

I used to think it was sad to see people’s identities tied to their jobs. But now I’m grateful because my job and my new identity are cool. People actually want my life and that’s crazy to me because just a few short years ago, I was struggling.

Theresa St John quit her retail job in 2015 to pursue travel writing and photography. She’s now had 275 travel stories published and sometimes teaches for Great Escape Publishing.

GREAT LEADERSHIP QUALITIES FOR GREAT PEOPLE:

GREAT LEADERSHIP QUALITIES FOR GREAT PEOPLE WHO REPRESENT WELL:

TYPES OF LEADERSHIP THEORIES AND SKILLS:

TEXT:  3 John 11-12 "Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true".

INTRODUCTION

WE ARE CREATED WITH DIVINE LEADERSHIP POTENTIALS

If you are a parent, a teacher, a day care provider, elder, a coach. No matter whom you are or what you do, you are a leader, a person of influence.

If we can become the leader we ought to be in the inside, we will be able to become the leader we want to be on the outside.

When that happens, with God’s help we’ll be able to tackle anything in this world and people will want to follow us.

TYPES OF LEADERSHIP THEORIES AND SKILLS

DEFINITION

According to thefreedictionary.com, Type is defined as a number of people or things having common traits or characteristics that distinguish them as a group or class. Leadership is defined by businessdictionary.com to be an “individuals who are the leaders in an organization, regarded collectively. Theories are defined as set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena. While Skills are defined as the ability and capacity acquired through deliberate, systematic, and sustained effort to smoothly and adaptively carryout complex activities or job functions involving ideas (cognitive skills), things (technical skills), and/or people (interpersonal skills).

There Are Different Types of Leadership Styles that could be found in work environments

Advantages and disadvantages exist within each leadership style.

The culture and goals of an organization determine which leadership style fits the firm best.

Some companies offer several leadership styles within the organization, dependent upon the necessary tasks to complete and departmental needs.

1. Autocratic

The autocratic leadership style allows managers to make decisions alone without the input of others. Managers possess total authority and impose their will on employees.

No one challenges the decisions of autocratic leaders.

Countries such as Cuba and North Korea operate under the autocratic leadership style.

This leadership style benefits employees who require close supervision.

Creative employees who thrive in group functions detest this leadership style.

2. Participative

Often called the democratic leadership style

Participative leadership values the input of team members and peers

But the responsibility of making the final decision rests with the participative leader.

Participative leadership boosts employee morale because employees make contributions to the decision-making process.

It causes them to feel as if their opinions matter.

When a company needs to make changes within the organization, the participative leadership style helps employees accept changes easily because they play a role in the process.

This style meets challenges when companies need to make a decision in a short period.

3. Transactional

Managers using the transactional leadership style receive certain tasks to perform and provide rewards or punishments to team members based on performance results.

Managers and team members set predetermined goals together, and employees agree to follow the direction and leadership of the manager to accomplish those goals.

The manager possesses power to review results and train or correct employees when team members fail to meet goals.

Employees receive rewards, such as bonuses, when they accomplish goals.

5. Transformational

The transformational leadership style depends on high levels of communication from management to meet goals.

Leaders of this group motivate employees and enhance productivity and efficiency through communication and high visibility.

This style of leadership requires the involvement of management to meet goals.

Leaders focus on the big picture within an organization and delegate smaller tasks to the team to accomplish goals.

SOME TYPES OF LEADERSHIP STYLES THAT WE MAY FIND IN GROUPS ARE:

1. Coach style of leadership

2. Goal minded style of leadership

3. Dictatorial styles of leadership

4. Sacrificial saint style of leadership

5. Abdicating style of leadership

THE COACH STYLE OF LEADERSHIP

Some things a good coach will practice in leading a team to victory is that he is a team-minded. He has cooperative spirit.

Those who lead with this style of leadership are generally not individualistic.

They see themselves as accomplishing something with the aid of others.

They organize others into a group effort to accomplish a common and accepted goal.

They are lovers of people, they enjoys being with those who have a common goal.

A coach motivates others to participate

A coach will be one of the primary sources for motivation for the team.

His primary method of motivation will be to involve everyone in a team effort.

In accomplishing a particular task, the coach leader does not see himself standing alone.

He sees the success through the efforts of several people who joined in the team effort.

A coach stimulates mental participation.

The coach leader does a great deal of teaching in order to encourage the mental and emotional participation of the team. 1Timothy 3:2…apt to teach

He is able to stimulate others with creative ideas.

He asks questions in order to develop the mental alertness of the team.

He motivates and educates others concerning the task that must be accomplished.

Once everyone understands the goals and how to accomplish the goals; then the coach leader encourages cooperative action on the part of the team.

A coach stimulates physical participation.

It is his work to see that everyone participate in accomplishment of the determined goal.

He organizes the team into a dynamic group by mental and motivational preparation.

Everyone is made to feel that he or she is very important part of the group Everyone is given responsibility.

They are encouraged to participate in order to accomplish the common goal of the group.

A coach accepts feedback.

A good coach always accepts “constructive criticism.”

Even corrective criticism of his personality and approach to leadership

He always listens for new ideas

He is sensitive to the work of the players.

He desire feedback in order to readjust or reorganize the effectiveness of the team effort.

If one is too sensitive to corrective criticism, then he or she will not be a coach leader.

The over sensitive isolate themselves from others in order that their feelings are not hurt.

Coach leaders, therefore, understand that they too have faults.

GOAL MINDED STYLE OF LEADERSHIP

A goal is a defined point to which one desires to go.

It is a point of accomplishment for which one seeks to strive

It is for a personal fulfillment or to accomplish a general task of work.

Everyone has goals they would like to accomplish.

The problem comes in actually when we are accomplishing our goals.

After a few weeks, those resolutions (goals) are often forgotten.

And one moves on with his or her regular behavior of life.

Every leader must be a goal-oriented person.

Others follow the vision of those who set and accomplish goals.

If we set goals that we accomplish, then others will follow our example.

In order to be successful in accomplishing a goal, the goal must be defined.

We must put in writing exactly what we want to accomplish.

If it is an entire group who is establishing the goal, the agreement on the goal or goals must be made in writing.

We must set realistic goals, that is:

Goals that can be accomplished with the added factor of faith

A goal can have a time at which it should be accomplished.

Yet one cannot place a date on any work without prayer of faith. James 5:1ff.

Goals give us points of progress and it release personal potential.

Goal can be redefined, if it’s too high for the abilities of those who were trying to reach it.

If so, we must reestablish a more realistic goal and allow God to do His work in our lives.

It is better to establish goals that can be easily reached.

DICTATORIAL STYLE OF LEADERSHIP

Almost everyone understands the nature of a dictator.

Everyone has experienced the nature of this style of leadership at one time or another in life.

It is rare that a dictator is good to the people over which he rules.

Most are self-centered, and thus, totalitarian in their rule.

This is a style of leadership that is practiced by many leaders in the secular world.

Here are the characteristics that are associated with this style of leadership.

A dictator motivates by power.

Because of his position, a dictator exercises authority over people by use of power.

When he commands, he expects followers to obey.

Because he knows he has the power to command action, the dictator often abuses his power

He loses touch with the people through abusive of his power.

One often adopts this style of leadership because he feels insecure.

The dictator does not delegate control or authority to others

For his sense of insecurity, he expects all instructions for the group to come directly from him.

The group, therefore, is usually regimented or controlled by his explicit instructions.

If other leaders start to join from the group, the dictator feels threatened.

He sees the emergence of another personality as a threat to his position.

A dictator corrects by threat.

When the dictator feels threatened, he reacts.

However, his action is often negative.

In order to maintain discipline and allegiance in the group, the dictator is strict in the area of punishment.

Order is maintained in the group by threats of punishment.

In this way, the dictator maintains his control though he has lost the allegiance of those over whom he exercises control.

THE SACRIFICIAL STYLE OF LEADERSHIP

1. This is the leader who martyrs himself for those he serves.

He seeks to lead people by the contagious nature of his total commitment to those he leads.

By the sacrifices he makes for his work, and the people he serves, people are motivated into action.

2. Here are some characteristics of this leadership behavior

The sacrificial leader seeks response by sympathy.

When those who follow realize the commitment of the leader, they are moved into action.

This behavior must be communicated to the group with sincerity, lest the group not follow because they see the hypocrisy of the leader.

However, once the group realizes that the leader is sincere, they usually respond in sympathy to what the leader is trying to do.

Personal sacrifice manifests personal sincerity

The sacrificial saint’s commitment usually leads to his being overworked.

A common characteristic of this type of leader is his or her tendency to be overworked.

This leader sees that the job must be done.

When no one else is around to help, he will carry on with the responsibilities that are necessary in order to accomplish the goal.

Even when others do not follow, he will do that which must be done in order to accomplish the task.

The sacrificial leaders maintain a high standard of conduct.

The sacrificial saint usually sets a high standard of behavior for himself.

In maintaining a high standard of performance, he usually demands the same from his follower.

However, he must be careful not to enforce a standard on others that is unreasonable and unbiblical for others to bear.

If he does not keep this in mind, he will frustrate those who follow.

ABDICATING STYLE OF LEADERSHIP:

This style of leadership is illustrated by an aging king who gives over the rule of the kingdom to his son before he dies.

He abdicates the throne in order to give the son an opportunity to reign in his presence.

Those who practice this style of leadership maintain the following characteristics.

The abdicating leader delegates responsibility to others.

Those who generally follow this type of leadership behavior often avoid responsibility.

To do such, they easily delegate responsibility to others.

The delegation of responsibility to others is not a negative characteristic of leadership.

It is, however, if one is trying to avoid the responsibility of leadership.

On the other hand, those leaders who have overcommitted themselves should learn to delegate responsibility to others.

The abdicating leader often withdraws from the responsibility of the leadership role.

Those who generally lead by this style of leadership often have the personality characteristic of withdrawing from the responsibility demanded of leaders.

If this is done simply because one is neglecting responsibility, then it is a negative leadership characteristic.

A leader must realize that others will not work unless he is working.

We do not lead from behind.

We lead from the front.

And to be in front, we must be actively involved in the work.

Leaders are in front simply because they get started before others start.

The abdicating leader is motivated by the demands of pressing needs.

It is not wrong to abdicate if there are other pressing needs that must be accomplished by the leader.

In fact, if one cannot abdicate in such situations he will hinder the growth of the work.

Abdicating is necessary for those leaders who have trained up others to assume the responsibilities of the work.

CONCLUSION

1. Leadership motto

I must be an example to them – 1 Timothy 4:12; 2 Thess. 3:9

I must give them myself (time, energy, and focus) – Matthew 28:20;

I must give them ownership of the ministry – 1 Peter 4:9-10

I must become a resource person (training, support, tools)  - 1 Timothy 3:2

I must make expectations Clear – compare James 2:12-14

I must eliminate unnecessary burden – compare - Matthew 23:1-4

I must catch them doing something good, and then reward them - 2 Samuel 2:6

I must work on their weakness and thereby work out their strengths  - Gal. 6:1-2

These principle should be practiced in placing leadership responsibility on any Christian.

Leadership involves knowing the individuals of the group, and then applying the style of leadership that motivates the group to respond and accomplish the task.

It involves knowing the circumstances in which the group is, and then, knowing the means by which one will influence the group to go in the correct direction.

Good leaders are in touch with the feelings and thoughts of those they seek to lead.

LIFE IN DEATH!

A guy slept off while
waiting for
his roommate, he
keeps late
night. As he tried
turning around,
a huge dark figure with
flamy
eyes opened his door,
he wanted
to scream but all
strength was
gone. Was it a dream or
vision?
He cant tell. It stared
deep into
his eyes and handed
him a
letter, he opened it.......
Dear Jude,
I couldn't make it home
last night
because I died. I
thought life
after death is an
elusion but am
here lonely and afraid in
pains
and in
torments The torture
is
unending, I cant explain
it but
am dying a thousand
times in a
second.

Watch this..Click here

You never told me this
place was
for real and
how to avoid it. We
grew up
together, went to
school
together and did
everything in
common but you never
told me
about this new life of
yours. I
asked you severally and
you
jokingly pushed it aside.
I was a
good man with a
charitable heart
but that didn't count
here. The
angel told me, am
without Christ
and my name is not in
the book
of life. I asked you
yesterday
morning whats this
born again
stuff and you said you
don't
want to bore me. Am in
pains,
can you hear the
screams, the
torments of the great
and the
less, I was told its for
eternity.
You betrayed our
friendship, you
never told me sex was
fornication but you
cautioned me
against AIDS, you never
told me
getting high was
drunkenness,
you just told me not to
drink and
drive, you never told me
lying
was sin, all you just
said was
don't be caught. I hate
you for
this....aaaahhh
h.....aaahhhh....aaa am
dying
again here but am alive,
the
flames keeps getting
hotter. I
wish you were here.
You
deceived me to the end.
If you
had told me about
Jesus and
salvation I knew I
couldn't be
here. I died only a few
hours ago,
I was drunk and ran
into a pole
but it seems I have
been here for
years.
Please tell my family
and all our
friends about salvation.
Am dying
again but death wont
come.
Its me, Henry.
He woke up at about
2:45AM
with a banging
headache and his phone
started
ringing, he picked it up
and what
he heard scared him to
his
bones. "Hello, Henry is
dead".
Today is still another
opportunity
to tell someone very
dear to you
about Jesus Christ and
His saving
grace. I just told you
because I
will never want you to
end up in
HELL.
HAVE YOU TOLD
SOMEONE ABOUT
JESUS TODAY?
U can copy, share and
paste in
other group chats
please. God
will help us in this race
in the
mighty name of Jesus....

You might not be able to go around evangelising but you can just share this to caution someone!
